All GLT members are invited to join us at noon on May 22nd, for the first Grafton Land Trust Fletcher Island BBQ for our members. Fletcher Island is the island on Silver Lake. So, pack up your blanket, sunscreen, and camera (maybe some bug spray too) and dress for an afternoon of outdoor fun.
Lunch:
Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served along with ice cold lemonade- everything tastes better in the woods! This is a perfect way to spend an afternoon as a family.
Activities:
After lunch, check out the two mini clinics if you'd like: Jeff Godin,
department chair and associate professor in the Exercise and Sports Science Department at Fitchburg State University, owner of Blackstone Valley Human Performance and competitive trail runner, will give an Introduction To Trail Running at 1:30. Following that, an Introduction to Kayaking will be given by GLT Directors and avid kayakers Ken Webb and Dave Nichols. Feel free to hike the nearby trails, climb the rocks or just chill out with the family while enjoying a leisurely lunch. If you have a boat, you're welcome bring it along and explore the waters of Silver Lake.
Parking:
Park at the Silver Lake Beach or Nantuckett Place and hike to Fletcher Reserve (yes, it’s an island, but you can hike to it), or take your boat across to the island.
