A steeply sloping upland that faces west, the property runs along Meadowbrook Road and reaches to just below the crest of the hill. Its northeastern end connects the Meadowbrook Conservation Area, which is owned by the Town of Grafton. Currently it has no trails. The most common trees are shagbark hickory, butternut, and red oak. DonorEdmund Hazzard and Dexter Pond HistoryThis area was once known as Gavel Hill because Wilbur Fiske of Upton used the hickory growing there for courtroom gavels, according to Phillip Platt. The lot was purchased by Edmund Hazzard in 1983 as a house lot but was never built upon. |
