George Knowlton Preserve |
||||
EcologyThe G Knowlton property is a key element in a "wildlife corridor" that stretches over the Potter Hill area in South Grafton. Potter Hill is home to foxes, wild turkeys, and deer. A vast expanse of the northern and southern boundaries is covered by winged euonymus. Bittersweet is present in lesser amounts and multiflora rose is filling in the two of the three fields along the east boundary. Bobolinks, a declining field-nesting bird, are present in the hayfield along the east boundary. The Massachusetts Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program has documented reports of the Wood Turtle (Glyptemys insculpta, Special Concern), on or near this tract. |
